Established in 2004, Jammers Volleyball Club (JVC) was founded by Riverside High School VB coaches Blaine Tendler and Michael Hodge, after recognizing the need to raise the skill level of high school players with additional training and competition in the off season. As the competition at the high school level continued to rise, coaches Tendler and Hodge sought to enter a team of current high school players in the Carolina Region/USAV JO league for the 2004-2005 season. A second team was formed with a core of incoming Riverside freshmen and Jammers Volleyball Club began as a 19 member, two team club.

The following year, JVC added a third team to its club and a saw Steve Rogers assume the role of club director as JVC's membership grew to 27 members and 3 full time coaches.

For the 2006-2007 season, JVC experienced a hugh increase in tryout attendees and was able to ultimately field seven teams consisting of 70 players and adding 4 head coaches to its organization. This unexpected growth was an great turning point in the club's future. Coach Hodge and club director Steve Rogers realized that it was becoming an established club in the Carolina Region and the north Durham area.
Seeing that the club was growing into something more than the original off-season training program, the club's two administrators began the process of establishing itself as a non-profit organization and incorporating JVC during the summer of 2007.
Mike and Steve began the task of solidifying the club through the publication of a club handbook, creating coach, player and parent contracts, securing additional practice facilities, offering Officiating Clinics and hosting a number of JO tournaments.

The 2007-2008 season, saw another rise in JVC tryout attendees and in the end, expanded itself to a 12 team, 120+ player club. Additionally, JVC was recgonized as a 501c3 non-profit organization, established the Megan Hodge Scholarship Program and made equipment donations to the Riverside High School Volleyball program.

The following season, the club membership rose to 143 players and 13 teams, ranging from two 13s teams to a single 18s team. The 2008-2009 season was a milestone for Jammers VBC as it saw the creation of three Semi-National teams. These teams were able to play an expanded schedule and compete in additional multi-day, out of state tournaments.
In addition, the Jammers 17s Red team, coached by Mike Hodge, attended the Big South tournament in Atlanta, Ga. This is a National Qualifier event, featuring teams from around the country. After competing for three days, the 17s Red team garnered a respectable 37th place finish out of a 120+ team division.

For the 2009-2010 season, JVC is dedicated to implementing a strong program of fundamental training for its younger teams backed by consistant coaching methods across each age group. Our appointment of Priscilla Awkard as Director of Coaching Development and the lead role of our College Prep Program is another step in JVC's offering to current and potential members.
With the success of last season's Semi-National teams, JVC is hoping to expand that to include additional teams playing an expanded schedule as well as fielding our 1st National team at the 18s level.
